A Mother’s Love

ww-motherslove

What better place to be?
Safe and secure within a mother’s loving grasp

The little boy clung tightly to her leg
Holding on and seeking reassurance

Partially hidden behind her skirt
Shy and bashful, somewhat frightened

Unsure of the unknown visitor
Yet feeling perfectly safe next to his mother

In “stick-tight” mode; that place of safety and security
Happy to reside in close proximity and nearness

Clinging to the one who would above all else
Protect and make safe the one whom she loved

Laying a gentle hand atop his head
Reassuring her presence, affirming her love and protection

Remaining close! In a mother’s love!
How closely connected; a mother’s love for her child,

Emulating God’s everlasting love for us!
For God birthed us and gave us life in Christ

Like a mother giving birth to a newborn child
We once were living in sin and darkness

But now we have come into His glorious light.
And doesn’t God feed us with His Holy Word?

Like a mother giving her milk to a hungry child.
God, our Father feeds us daily in order that we grow in grace

As a mother nurtures her child toward growth and maturity
Our Father above also protects and comforts , those whom He loves.

Does not a mother do likewise, consoling and comforting?
As we grow, God’s desire is for us to be pleasing before Him

A mother also desires the very best for her child.
The Holy Spirit provides wisdom, guidance and direction

As a mother leads and directs a child in the way he should go
Sometimes we are in need of the Lord’s discipline in our lives.

Does not a mother also discipline her child as he grows?
And God, in love, is so forgiving to us, His children.

Can’t you see, a mother’s forgiving spirit to her offspring?
Our heavenly Father is not willing that any should perish.

Would not a mother give her very life for her child?
God in grace and mercy desires that we have eternal life with Him.

Wouldn’t a mother desire that same thing for her child?
Doesn’t God desire us to praise and worship Him?

And wouldn’t a mother desire the praise of her children?
May Mother’s Day bring blessing and honor to your special mom.

May you honor God with your heartfelt thanksgiving!
As you remain close! In your Father’s love!

Scriptures:

· Proverbs 31 All – The Wife of Noble Character – She speaks with wisdom…she watches over the affairs of her household…her children arise and call her blessed…a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
· I Corinthians 13: 4-13 – Love is patient, love is kind…it is not self-seeking…it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
· I John 3:1 – How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
