We continue with the lesson from Cain and Abel, learning that our offerings must be given with the right spirit and that purity of heart is key in this whole equation.
Proverbs 15:8-9 (NIV) says,
“8 The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him. 9 The LORD detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness.”
Also in 2 Timothy 2:22 (NIV),
“Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
These both talk about pursuing righteousness…going after it with single-mindedness.”
Let’s continue the lessons we learn from the story of Cain and Abel. The importance God places on our heart’s purity is vital for our lives for it affects everything that we do. We will look at some practical ways to obtain and maintain purity of heart.
