This week we will continue our message series on the theme, “Good Soil Church.” This concept is taken from Jesus’ Parable of the Sower where He talks about the good soil that “produced a crop of a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
In this message entitled, “Being, Not Just Doing, Church,” we are going to look at Acts 2:41-47 to identify various behaviors and characteristics of the first Christian Church in Jerusalem.
We will look at the discipling, connecting, eating and praying activities of the church and the “fruit” they produced. Many are tempted to think of this church as perfect, pristine, and untouched by sin and later corruption.
But this first church in Acts was not perfect; it was simply pursuing the right things at that time under the direction of the Holy Spirit. Even in our culture today, some of these same activities will help us to become the “good soil” church God desires.
