We continue our summer series entitled, “Cultivating Character.” This week in a message entitled, “Endurance: Going Beyond Quitting,” we will look at the character quality of endurance.
In our culture we don’t want to wait for anything and it is easy to just give up instead of working through the tough time in our work, our schooling, our marriage and in our spiritual growth.
We might as well admit it — it’s almost always easier to quit than to endure. But quitting costs us big time and many of us have paid dearly for giving up too soon. This message talks about what it takes to endure and to go beyond our quitting points.
In 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (TLB) Paul give us this picture of endurance,
“We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit. 9 We… get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.”
With that as our goal… where “we don’t give up and quit” and “we get up again and keep going,” we talk about how to get there in this most practical message. We want to become Christ followers who endure!
