Over the next weeks, in a series called, “A New Look At Purpose,” we will return to the five purposes that drive our church:

  1. worship
  2. fellowship
  3. discipleship
  4. ministry
  5. evangelism

These five purposes are the lens through which we do church at Highland. They sum up what Jesus taught in His Great Commandment and His Great Commission.

We teach these purposes in our 101 Discovering Highland Class and they frequently hang as banners in our Worship Center, but this is not enough. This series will seek to give a fresh and practical perspective to each purpose.

On Sunday in a message entitled, “Expressing Your Love To God,” we will look at the Purpose of Worship. This is the first priority that Jesus gave us in His Great Commandment.

Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV)

“Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Join us this week as we look at six ways to express our love to God in worship and as we celebrate Communion with other followers of Jesus around the world.
