Message Series: Good Soil Church

Dates: September 8 to September 29, 2013

A new message series on the theme, “Good Soil Church.” This concept is taken from Jesus’ Parable of the Sower where He identifies four types of soil:

  1. rocky soil
  2. shallow soil
  3. thorny soil and
  4. the “good soil.”

The good soil was better than the others because of the plentiful crop it produced. The new understanding that I want to look at in this series is that these soil types are not only applied to us as individuals but they can also be applied to us as an entire church.

My goal is to help us become “good soil” both as individual followers of Jesus and together as a whole church. The better the soil the better things can grow. Sunday’s message entitled, “What Is A Good Soil Church?,” is the foundational message of the series.

From here we will be studying key passages in the New Testament that identify various behaviors and characteristics of “good soil” churches.
