Katie Dexter: NTS 365M in Ireland
Guest Speaker: Katie Dexter
Hello Highland Family,
I am looking forward to sharing with you on Sunday morning about this past year serving in Ireland and the ways in which it has transformed me on my journey in life. As Pastor Gabe has spoken on “Being the Church” and how we are to embrace Jesus’ call beyond the walls of the sanctuary, it feels so fitting to be sharing about the ways God called me this past year to serve not only outside of the U.S., but also outside of the church walls through relational ministry with the Church of the Nazarene. I hope to share with you how God has challenged me beyond the walls of the sanctuary through story and Celtic themes. I hope you connect with these in ways that challenge you outside the walls of our church sanctuary and into our homes, communities, workplaces, schools, etc. to sharing the light of Christ.
South African missiologist challenges us to what it means to be the “church” and participate in God’s mission:
Mission is thereby seen as a movement from God to the world; the church is viewed as an instrument for that mission. There is church because there is mission, not vice versa. To participate in mission is to participate in the movement of God’s love toward people, since God is a fountain of sending love.”
As we anticipate Sunday, may we participate in the movement of God’s love toward people in our homes, communities, workplaces, schools, and all the other places we may find ourselves.
Grace & Peace,
