Showing Fairness

This week as part of our “Cultivating Character” summer series we will look at the character quality of “fairness” in a message entitled, “Showing Fairness.”

Most of us think that we have a handle on being fair or showing fairness because we learned it in Pre-School and Kindergarten.  If you have ever had to split a candy bar with anyone you quickly learn about how to be fair in the split. But when you think more deeply about fairness, you soon realize that much of life isn’t fair and many people in the world do not play fair.  Scripture is filled with references to fairness. Jeremiah 22:3 (NLT) says,

“Be fair and just.”

Proverbs 16:11a (TLB) says,

“The Lord demands fairness in every business deal.”

Psalm 37:28 (TLB) says,

“For the Lord loves justice and fairness.”

We live in an unfair world but we serve a Savior who gave His life for us in a most unfair death so that we might have a changed and eternal life. 2 Peter 1:1b (NLT) says,

“This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.”

Join us as we discuss fairness as part of the character of a Christ follower, the fairness of God in our relationship to Him and how to react to the unfairness we might face personally.
