This week we will conclude our “Good Soil Church” series. We will look at Peter’s teaching about the church in 1 Peter 2:4-10 in a message entitled, “You Are The Good Soil Church!”

Peter uses the picture of the church where Jesus Christ is the “cornerstone” and Christ followers are the “living stones” who make up the rest of the building.

In 1 Peter 2:4 he writes,

“You are coming to Christ, who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but He was chosen by God for great honor.”

Even though He was rejected and crucified, Jesus is the resurrected, “living cornerstone” around Whom God is still building His church today. Peter makes our identity clear in verse 5a when he says,

“And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple…”

The passage moves on to clearly describe Christ followers as “living stones” who are acceptable, capable, valuable and forgivable. Don’t miss this practical description of the “good soil” church and the essential role that you play in its ministry and growth.
