Deep within the canyon walls
Advancing on foot slowly along the shallow stream’s path
Water rushing swiftly underfoot
Swirling along the riverbed in eddies
Shifting the pebbles in its wake
Turning muddy when agitated by one’s footfall
Cliffs gradually closing inward
Brilliant red and orange
Swirled and grooved by time
Sculptured with design
Eroded by wind and water
Adjacent side-walls rising steeply upward
With crevices catching the light
Hemmed in by the encroaching canyon
Ever-narrowing with each step
The water-filled streambed reaching from side to side
No way of escape
But “look up”!
The deep blue of God’s brilliant sky shines from above!
Illuminating the canyon with shafts of radiant light!
Feel like you are in a canyon sometimes?
Encroached upon on every side
Hemmed in by circumstances
Besieged by difficulties
With no way of escape
Swirling and shifting along in life
With no sense of direction
Not sure of your footing
In the shadows
Losing sight of what is important and lasting
Don’t look at the encroaching walls and swirling waters
God is faithful
In your temptation to doubt Him
He will provide a way out, a way of escape
He will give you a firm place to stand
Even in the midst of your canyon
God’s light shines from above!
He is the Light in the darkness!
Shining through to you wherever you are
God’s Word is a lamp and a light
Giving direction to your pathway
Through the canyons of life
God is our place of refuge
When troubles surround you like mighty waters
He surrounds you with His love and protection.
His care and provision
Able to help when you’ve lost your way
Look to Him!
Fix your eyes on the Lord
For He is your salvation
He is your Jehovah Jireh, your provider!
The Mighty One!
